Violin Lessons

Because my mother teaches violin, it’s only ever been natural for me to do the same. One of my requirements in college was to instruct children. I quickly realized just how much I enjoyed teaching — and that I excelled at communicating with my students. Please review my testimonials for a greater sense of my teaching style, or schedule with me to observe a lesson with one of my students.

ALL AGES, EXPERIENCE, AND WALK OF LIFE ARE WELCOME!

I am passionate about teaching. I want my students to feel good about themselves, while also feeling accomplished after every lesson. I’m strict — but also nurturing. If I had a motto it would read: I want to educate my students to the best of my ability, giving them the opportunity to major in violin in college and/or the ability to enjoy the violin for the rest of their lives.

INTERESTED IN LESSONS FOR YOUR CHILD?

Playing the violin isn’t just about coming to lessons and practicing at home. It’s an opportunity for every child to develop as an overall human being. Parents shoud encourage, nurture, and support this development by being a reliable practice partner.

Here are a few guidelines essential to your child’s growth:

Listen to assigned recordings.

Practice daily. I’ll settle for 5 days a week.

Listen to other classical recordings.

One parent must be present and attentive at the lesson. Please take notes. This is a very effective way of helping your child practice good habits and prevent bad ones. This will also help you be a better practice partner for your child. If the student is over 13, then the parent is welcome to simply enjoy the lesson.

The quality of the student’s instrument must be taken seriously. Equipment can make the musical journey easier or more difficult. If you’d like recommendations on what to look for, then feel free to ask me.

Please provide the best instrument you can afford for your child. A wooden bow with fresh hair is preferred. Strings should be changed, as needed. I can help you at every step!

Please don’t invest in an instrument without consulting with me first. Not all instruments are alike. With musical instruments, guessing on eBay or obscure websites can lead to a less than optimal violin. That could create an uphill battle for your child.

The above guidelines are intended for two purposes — 1) to lay the foundation for an exceptional learning experience, and 2) to help you identify your child’s level of interest, willingness, and commitment to learning or improving on the violin.
